Shannon Goldman is a film director, editor, and founder of Super G Films, a New York-based production company.
Classic filmmakers such as Errol Morris and Roberto Rossellini created films that organically captured life’s imperfect beauty, real people reacting to real situations. Alongside years of shooting indie films on the streets of New York City, these cinematic influences informed Shannon’s filmmaking approach, where documentary meets narrative storytelling. He likens his work to that of a craftsman and credits his ability to see the whole picture to being a director and editor; for him, there is nothing more genuine than someone telling their personal story and capturing those real emotions. On set, Shannon brings his expertise with a lightness that makes everyone feel at ease and sets the tone. This allows him to connect with his subjects on a deep level to find the “real” in every story.
Simultaneous to running his company, Shannon has held several creative posts over the years. As Creative Director of the North Fork Arts Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, he was part of the founding team that curated unique programming which sold out events and created a true home for film, music, dance, and community. He contributed as an early advisor to the Manhattan Film Institute where he taught filmmaking and served as Director and Programmer of the MFI North Fork Film Festival. And he continues to mentor young filmmakers he meets along the way.
Shannon made his start in independent film editing on a flatbed, contributing to feature films such as Revolution #9, Noise, and Ash Tuesday. He has spent his career directing and editing features, commercials and branded content. In 2018, he directed and edited Greenport which received numerous awards around the country and won Best Pilot Comedy at SeriesFest.
Born in Manhattan and raised between the city and the beach, Shannon currently lives on the North Fork of Long Island.
